U.S. official resigns over Afghan war

This man should be listened to carefully. It is apparent there is no objective defined for Afghanistan and therefore every strategy offered has large holes in it. This is probably why Obama is slow to act on the general's suggested surge. (Well, for Obama, this also means what are the polls saying, and how is his political base at the moment for which of dozens of ill conceived domestic programs).
So - there is ReASON to look at other strategies besides the "surge". The corruption of Afghanistan leadership, the fractured population loyalties and the rabid and ignorant religious Taliban are tearing the country apart ... while we try to buy off one side and fight the other.
Go figure. You really do have to wonder at some point .. is there a better way other than sending in the regular army with all its heavy troop and logistical requirements for a ponderous advance on an enemy that changes by the day with who bought them off last. What exactly is our end goal there?
