The water enterprise did not get started until in the 1920's. It was an entrepreneurial idea that lasted for over a decade. But the depression did eventually force an end. As with the often discussed HOTEL at Chumuckla Springs -- there was no permanence. The hotel only lasted a couple of years between 1915 and 1918 and burned down --- but, it remains a long-memory over generations. Even our departed parents born in the 1920's never actually saw the hotel. They only heard the stories.
The Springs property is currently owned by the developer Harrell Downey. It is closed off to the public but it may - in coming years - become a resort type subdivision. Who knows.?
